About The SSAT
The Secondary School Admissions Test, know as the SSAT, is a standardized test used to assess the abilities of students seeking to enroll in an independent school. The SSAT measures the basic verbal, math, and reading skills students need for successful performance in independent schools. Results give admission professionals a way to assess and compare applicants, regardless of their experience or background.

- There are currently three levels of SSAT testing: Elementary Level (Grades 3-4), Middle Level exam (Grades 5-7), Upper Level exam (Grades 8-11)
- The SSAT middle/upper level test fee is $127 for US test-takers, and the international fee is $247
- Score range for Middle Level exam: 440-710 (V/Q/R), 1320-2130 (Total)
- Score range for Upper Level exam: 500-800 (V/Q/R), 1500-2400 (Total)

-For students currently in the 3rd and 4th grades seeking admission to 4th and 5th grades.

- Experimental Section: 15-17 questions, 15 minutes
MIDDLE LEVEL
-For students currently in grades 5-7 seeking admission to grades 6 through 8.

What is a good SSAT score?The total score range for the Elementary Level SSAT is 900 to 1800. The Middle Level SSAT ranges from 1320 to 2130. The Upper Level SSAT ranges from 1500 to 2400. Students typically receive their scores within two weeks of taking the exam. Your total scaled score will also be given as a percentage rank, indicating how well you scored compared to other students in your grade. Your percentile rank is based on scores from all students in your grade who have taken the exam over the last three years. |
